Dashcam footage released by Iowa State Patrol shows the pursuit that shut an interstate for an hour earlier this week.

The chase started along I-35/80 when a state trooper spotted a driver going 100-miles per hour.

As troopers tried to catch up, the speed climbed even higher.

There were also several close-calls as the suspect used the shoulder to avoid other drivers.

Once the chase moved south on I-35 past the metro, the State Patrol put out two sets of stop sticks on the interstate. They blew out three of the suspect’s tires as other state troopers swerved to avoid them.

Once stopped a mile south of Bevington, the State Patrol says the suspect briefly got out of the car, showed a gun and then got back behind the wheel.

Two members of the Iowa State Patrol negotiating team were called in.
